The rest of June

I promised myself I was going to stay caught up with blogging, but that lasted about 2 weeks! So, here is the month of June!

We went to the "big park" on June 11th. We played on the playground, had a picnic and played in the sandbox.

being the Grumpy Old Troll

After talking, looking, researching for the last 2 years we finally found a swing set we loved at a price we could handle. We got the "build it at home" kind and Daddy put it together over the weekend of the 12th. This is what it started as!

Griffin, Tucker and Mya - the supervisors!

Daddy and his friend Eric, cutting all the boards

Supper time on day 1

The boys helped too!

After the boys went to bed the first day, Daddy went back out in the dark and put on the rock steps and the slide so they could play on some of it.

Loving it already!

Daddy's boss, Eric, told him to stay home from work on Monday and finish the swingset. He even sent over Frank (who also works with Daddy) to help! They got a lot done in a short time.

On the bronco rider

looking through the telescope

Putting in the last anchors on a finished swing set!!

Griffin hasn't enjoyed swings much, but it only took him a couple days to love his swing! I was suprised at how much they both love the swings.

We knew we wanted to make some sort of clubhouse on the bottom part but we weren't sure how. Daddy built this in a couple hours and it is awesome! The boys put thier little plastic lawn chairs inside and pretend it's a house or a bus or a hideout.

Like father, like sons! They are both such natural "techies" June 13

Playing with Kaiden at the Kid's Museum on June 14

Peek-a-boo with Easton

Griffin loves taking care of the babies

Pretending to be sick at the hospital

The library had a program by Blank Park Zoo on June 16 and we got to see some cool animals. Tucker is sad because he wanted to pet the alligator!

Tucker took this picture of an owl

Father's Day was June 19th, my boys have the BEST DAD EVER!

Daddy's present Mommy picked out

"Daddy's" presents the boys picked out: a water wheel and squirt guns!

After a pancake breakfast, gifts and church we went to a program at Usher's Ferry called 10 Fun things to do with Dad. It was a blast! We all had a great time.

One of the Fun Things was sports. Griffin was taking a nap so Daddy and Tucker decided to play some baseball. A couple of the volunteers were playing but they weren't doing very well. Tucker cranked a couple hits over Daddy's head, then told the volunteer "This is how you play baseball. You try and try again and then you hit it." We were pretty embarassed, but the volunteer just laughed and told him he was a great baseball player!

Next was frisbee

After Griffin woke up they moved on to croquet

Another Fun Thing was changing the oil on a car. Daddy taught Tucker how to check the oil and then Tucker pretended to drive.

Another station was making paper airplanes. Daddy had his own design and it flew the farthest!

Taking stuff apart was another fun activity.

After blowing bubbles and throwing water balloons we all danced in the gazebo.

Some of the other activities were cooking over a fire and playing card games. We went on a hayrack ride and ate popcorn. We had so much fun and hope to do it again next year!

Dan Wardell works for Iowa Public Television: Kids. He does the information bits in between shows and does the Reading Road Trip at libraries all over Iowa. He is an amazing story teller and does such a great job of keeping all the kids entertained and involved. June 20th

Here I think the kids are climbing a mountain to find the Abominable Snow Monster.

Not sure what part Griffin is doing!

Another picture with Dan Wardell, we love him!

Decked out in their Cars 2 shirts with their new Finn McMissle and Holley Shiftwell cars ready to head to the theater on June 24th!!

They were SO excited and both did great through the movie. Griffin got a little restless toward the end, but he just walked in front of our seats while watching the movie and was fine.

Posing with the poster outside the theater

Our friend Jenny Tyree got married on the 25th and we had a great time at the wedding. They Tyrees have been family friends of the Spences since Daddy was little.

LOVE this picture of Griffin! Daddy's throwing him up into the leaves and he's loving it.

They had a silly photo booth at the reception and the boys really got into it!

The only picture I got of them together in their adorable outfits

Griffin has become quite the climber. He was hungry and wanted into his high chair so he pushed a kitchen chair, his Cookie Monster chair and the toolbox over to make steps to climb up. June 27

Tucker planted a couple sunflower seeds in a tiny pot and (to mom's suprise) they really started growing. We had to move them to a bigger pot so we all went to the store and the boys picked out their own pots and Griffin picked out some flower seeds of his own to plant. June 28

We have a little hill on the edge of our yard that works great for our slip'n'slide.

We helped Korey move into her new apartment in Ankeny on the 29th. It's a 2 bedroom on the 3rd floor and it's really nice!

Master bathroom and HUGE walk-in closet

Their "view from the 3rd floor" which is also Korey's blog title.

Korey and Dan

Tucker is taking swimming lessons and having a great time. He does everything the teacher asks except put his head under the water, but I'm sure he'll get there!

Another fun trip to the splash pad on the 30th.
