Family

Aug 13 and 19

Grammy and Grandpa are working hard on building their new house and we wanted to help! The boys love it just the way it is! The run and ride all over, they'll probably be dissapointed when the walls go up!

Griffin is usually pretty afraid of the tractor, but he rode on it a little with Daddy. Looking at his face, I'm still not sure he enjoyed it much!

Tucker had a great time playing with cousin Briar and "fighting" the weeds!

Snuggling with Grammy by the campfire

Uncle Miah came to watch the boys while Mommy and Daddy went out for their anniversary (9 years, we're getting old!) They had a sleep-over and watched Hoodwinked 2 and had yummy treats Miah let them pick out from the store! Tucker has asked again and again when they can have another sleep-over with Uncle Miah!!

Iowa State Fair

We all went to the Iowa State Fair on August 12th.

We started out at "Small Hands on the Farm" where kids learn all the steps of getting food and goods from the farm to the store. They looked adorable in their aprons and hats (they got to keep the hats)!

The started out planting "seeds" in the dirt and then "picking" out the vegetables they had planted.

They "picked" apples off trees and filled bags with corn and soybeans.

Then they turned in their corn to feed the cows and sheep to get milk and wool.

They turned in their soybeans to make bio-diesel to run their tractors.

Then they sold their goods to the store for a dollar that they got to use to buy a treat. Tucker picked out a rice crispy bar and Griffin got fruit snacks. It was really fun and taught them a lot about farming.

The Fair was celebrating 100 year of the Butter Cow so they had 100 decorated cows around the fairgrounds. This was my favorite! Dairy Potter!

Tucker's sheep he built in a lego challenge

The fair has the most amazing food, and the boys went with mac and cheese!

Tucker meeting Clifford (Griffin was asleep)

Playing in the sprinklers, they loved this last year but this year mommy remembered trunks and a towel!

Checking out the big animals.

The butter cow!

We ended our day feeding the animals at the petting zoo. We had an awesome time! "Our state fair is a great state fair. Don't miss it don't even be late!"

Bowling and Beds

Aug 6,8

The boys got free passes for bowling through the summer reading program at the library. We had taken them bowling on our vacation earlier in the summer and they both had a great time.

Griffin showing off his 1 finger bowl!

Tucker likes to take his time and aim the ramp just right.

Daddy was on a bowling team with work this spring.

Daddy didn't have a very good game (even with bumpers) and mommy pulled out her 2nd win in 12 years against daddy!!

We decided it was time to switch Griffin to a toddler bed. His crib converts, but it doesn't have the half side-rail like Tucker's does. We thought Griffin needed it more than Tucker so they both got "new" beds! Tucker fell out a couple times the first week, but hasn't at all since!

Griffin has done great! I think it makes such a difference having a big brother in the room with you!

Wheels

Aug 2-5
Uncle Duane delivered a load to CR in his semi truck and the boys had a great time checking it out! Tucker loved it, even while running and honked the horn numerous times.

Griffin had fun pretending to drive, but was pretty freaked out by the horn!

The boys and I built a road out of manila folders on the stairs. They had a lot of fun ramping the cars down the stairs and laughed when they crashed at the bottom.

Color sorting with cars and they didn't even realize they were learning!!

Griffin tried out big brother's rollerskates. He can't even stand in them by himself, but Daddy held him as he rolled around the loop in our house.

Summer Splash and Sundaes

July 30th we went to the splash pad and enjoyed the beautiful weather, then we had homemade ice cream sundaes.

Our sundaes with chocolate and caramel syrup, oreo and chocolate chip cookies, m&ms, and sprinkles!

Old MacDonalds Farm

We took the boys to Old MacDonald's Farm to see the animals. The closest zoo is 2 hours away so this is the next best thing. Griffin is learning animal noises really fast now so we thought it would be good for him to see some of the animals.

I think he was suprised at how close the ducks were!

Griffin did a lot of pointing, he was so excited!

Checking out the cows
