Zzzzzz...

Tucker is doing a great job sleeping at night. He's only had a couple nights since he was born where he was awake at night. He makes little noises when he's hungry and I get up and feed him and then he goes right back to sleep. Even if he's awake when we lay him down he lays there quietly until he falls asleep. The last 2 nights he's slept 7 1/2 hrs straight before waking up to eat. He then eats almost every hour and a half during the day to catch up, but we don't mind! However, he HATES naps. He fights it and fights it during the day, even when he's super tired. I think he got he fighting from me (Dad (Grandpa) says I used to fight it for hours!) and the not sleeping during the day from his Daddy. Doyle has such a hard time sleeping when it's light out. He said when his parents used to lay him down for a nap, he'd pull a book out from under his bed and then read until he heard them coming to get him up. Then he'd hide the book back under his bed and pretend like he was asleep! I don't really mind that he doesn't take too many naps as long as he keeps sleeping great at night. We've been having some rough evenings lately. He acts really hungry and eats for a few minutes and then starts screaming. Even though he acts hungry, he won't eat. I talked to our nurse and one of the lactation consultants at the hospital and we're all wondering if it's colic. It's a little late to be starting that, but if that's what it is, hopefully it will end as quickly as it started.

2 months (a little late)

I just realized I never put up his 2 month pictures or info from his doctors appointment. So, here they are. His appt was on Jan 7th and he was 11 lbs 12 oz which is the 45th percentile and 22 1/2 inches long which is only the 10th percentile! He got 4 shots and 1 vaccine by mouth. He screamed a little, but I'm pretty sure it was harder on me than him! His next appt will be at 4 months at the end of February.

Our new friend: Calvin James Long

Amy and Eric had their baby boy yesterday at 4:28 pm. He is 7 lbs and 19 1/2 inches long. Tucker didn't really even register that there was a new baby there, but I'm sure they'll be great friends soon enough! Amy was induced on Wednesday at 1, she was a trooper and did amazing. Congrats guys!

Tall Aint All

Sarah and I had these shirts made for our senior pictures. I got the orange (peachy) one for Isabell before she was born and now it fits Tucker, so Sarah made a yellow one for Isabell. The only problem is Isabell probably will be taller than all 3 of us!

Mommy loves her some bib overalls!

I am SOOOOO excited he finally fits in a pair of bibs. Thanks Uncle Kelly and Aunt Jill for these.
Also, thanks Isabell (and Aunt Sarah and Uncle Dustin) for the play-mat, he loves it! He grins and giggles at the lion in the middle and is learning to hold onto the toys!

First Christmas

Opening presents: Daddy really wanted to get Tucker a rattle, but we thought he'd hurt his head the way he swings his arms around. So we found this soft one he can wear on his wrist.

Animal Ark from Great Grandma Rouse and Great Aunt Jane. Mom and Grandpa had more fun with this toy but I know Tucker will enjoy it soon!

Hospital Part 2

We didn't make it out of the hospital on Christmas day. That night he was struggling to breathe on his own and was working so hard to keep his oxygen up that they put him back on oxygen so he wouldn't get too weak.




So we spent Tucker's first Christmas in the hospital. It was pretty hard on mommy and daddy but we had lots of family around to make it better. Both at the hospital and over the phone and through prayers. We even opened present in our room and the waiting room with family!




Santa came to visit and brought a bag of presents for Tucker. Books, and toys and stuffed animals and a blanket. Mom and Dad both almost cried it was such a treat! Because he had influenza and RSV everyone who came in the room had to wear gowns, gloves and masks because of how contagious he was. Santa came in and said "It's up to me if I wear this mask or not, right?" The nurses looked a little unsure, but said yes since we were the last room on his stop. He said "No one wants a picture of santa in a mask!" So he took it off just to get a picture with us.

Finally on the 26th they took him back off the oxygen and he made it all the way through the night while keeping his blood oxygen levels up where they needed to be. He didn't seem nearly as tired after this attempt and so they let us go home on Thursday the 27th. We headed to Grandpa and Grandma Spence's in Lacona to recuperate. Now we are doing great!
