On Monday night around 10 pm I started having contractions. They were about a half hour apart for the first couple hours, then were only 10 mins apart. By 3:30 am they were coming every 5 minutes and VERY painful! We called the on-call doctor and she said 1st babies take a while, so we should try and hold out another hour before we headed in. At 5:30 we went to the hospital and got checked in. I was dialated 3 cm and in quite a bit of pain and completely exhausted from already being up all night. We got moved to a room and I got an epidural around 7:30. At 8 am our doctor, Dr. Fiala, got to the hospital and checked everything out. It was going well and I

was now 5 cm dialated. She said she'd see us in a couple hours and left. Within 15 minutes she was back in the room and everyone was standing around the monitors. They got on the phone and called for an OR stat for an emergency C-section. His heart rate had dropped to 60, very low, and they needed to get him out now! Luckily I had just gotten the epidural so I didn't have to be put completely under. Right as they were starting the surgery, his hear rate picked back up but they were still worried and wanted him out to make sure he was ok. Doyle got to watch him being pulled out. He said it was scary because the doc was pulling him out by his head!

He started crying immediately, the best sound I've ever heard! I didn't get to see or do much, but Doyle got to be with him right away and watch them do all the tests and cut the cord. Then he carried him over so I could see him. He is the cutest baby I've ever seen, and I'm not biased or anything! The finished stitching my up and Doyle took him to the nursery to get cleaned up. He is doing great. No problems at all! I'm doing well too, a little sore, but really pretty well! He was 5 lbs 13 oz, pretty little, but 19 1/2 inches long which is about average for length. I don't know we ended up with a tall kid! His newborn going home outfit

was HUGE on him so Grandma Christy bought him a couple premie outfits that fit great. We just got home at 10 or so tonight and we are both happy to be here. I'm sure I'm leaving something out, but it's late and we're heading to bed. We'll put up more pictures soon! Thanks for all your support and prayers. He's amazing!
